10 years ago, mb-microtec faced a challenge that would determine the future of what is now the world’s leading provider of tritium-based lighting solutions: The digitalization and compliance of their complex production processes.

mb-microtec specializes in the development and manufacture of tritium-based light sources and lighting technologies. Its patented Trigalight® technology enables self-luminous displays without an external energy source, which leads to better readability and greater safety in watches and industrial applications around the world, for example.

mb-microtec’s high standards for reliable and durable technologies also applied to their potential partner for the implementation of a modern ERP system: The legal regulations, production and processes in the company are simply too complex for Excel.

Solution

Taking the requirements into account, mb-microtec’s complex business processes were implemented on the basis of Oracle JD Edwards. The binding fixed price for the implementation ensures cost certainty in the project.

At the very core of the overall solution is the highly customized production and capacity planning: in order to comply with the legal limits for radioactive semi-finished and finished products, the use of two different units of measurement (piece and becquerel) is required for all transactions. The same applies to meticulous compliance with the maximum delivery quantity of 8 TBq (Tera-Bq) for radioactive products.
