Complete migration from previous ERP solution to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne in record time

At ARVOS Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of industrial equipment, the previous SAP solution had reached the end of its useful life. The ARVOS Group management faced a mammoth task: should the data be migrated to a newer generation SAP or combined with the evaluation from a new ERP solution? With Oracle JD Edwards, Boss Info knew that it had the perfect solution for this challenge. As a solutions partner ideally positioned for international success, it wasn’t deterred by the ambitious deadline, the different cultural backgrounds or the time difference between Switzerland and Japan: “Probably the biggest challenge in the project was the tight schedule. All the data from 15 years of SAP needed to be migrated to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne in just three months,” recalls Urs Liechti, Project Manager at Boss Info. By contrast, the required dual language capability (English and Japanese) was a much smaller hurdle, even with the Japanese alphabet.

A professional partnership for a successful project

The process of replacing the existing SAP solutions used by the Japanese subsidiaries began for both parties with the preliminary Boss Info project. Then followed the associated analysis and optimization of the business processes, the forms and their structures and setup, the interfaces, the process concept for the data migration, the Japanese location specifications and the selection of the suitable cloud solution and IT infrastructure. Based on this, the Boss Info project team implemented all business processes in the cloud-based JD Edwards solution and optimized and tested them thoroughly. Finally, the end users were trained across all modules. The close partnership meant users could structure, edit and set up their documents and processes independently during the implementation process, enabling independent working after the go-live date.

As a strategic ERP solution from Oracle, JD Edwards is constantly being further developed, updated and expanded with new modules. Ongoing updates based on the current JD Edwards release E1 9.2 have been standard since 2017, and these can be carried out if required (ESU = electronic software updates). So release changes are not necessary for customers until 2030.
