Custom ERP as a Single Source of Truth for global use

Pureon is a leading provider of high-quality solutions for the surface treatment of high-tech materials. Headquartered in Lengwil, Switzerland, the company operates in over 40 countries and maintains branches in Europe, Asia, and the USA. Through its collaboration with Boss Info, Pureon successfully implemented a centralized SaaS solution that meets the company’s global requirements.

Initial situation: Different systems and tools

In the past, Pureon worked with various ERP systems and manually managed lists that were sent back and forth. The flow of information was time-consuming and prone to errors. The central challenge was to create a “Single Source of Truth” – an integrated system for all countries and locations with centralized master data. Additional requirements included an international focus, high availability and scalability for future growth. The decision was therefore quickly made in favor of a SaaS solution.

The challenge

Pureon was created through the merger of the two companies Microdiamant and Eminess Technologies in 2021. As a result of the merger, Pureon faced the urgent need to implement a unified ERP system for all locations. The implementation had to meet the company’s high-quality standards while also addressing the specific requirements of international processes.

The Decision for Boss Info: Expertise & Collaboration at Eye Level

Pureon chose to collaborate with Boss Info for the following reasons:

  • Swiss Expertise: Boss Info understands the needs of international SMEs and, as a Swiss company, provides a partnership built on an equal footing.
  • International Network: Boss Info is part of the international Redfair network, benefiting from localization in other locations.
  • Top Know-how & Engagement: Boss Info’s extensive expertise and exceptional engagement, particularly from Project Manager Roland Rüegg, were key to the success of the collaboration.

The Solution: NetSuite as a SaaS Platform with Custom Adaptations

Pureon decided to implement NetSuite, a SaaS solution that covers all locations and business processes. Now, everything is handled in one system, from order processing to label printing for shipping.

Individual customizations

Many requirements were met using NetSuite’s standard features. However, some custom adjustments were necessary to address specific issues.

Customizing the Production Process: NetSuite’s standard functionality only supports discrete manufacturing. However, Pureon requires process manufacturing, such as for powder production, where different components are combined to create a new product. To map this in the ERP-System, extensive customizations were necessary.

Pricing: To automatically reflect the complexity of the product structure in pricing, a sales configurator was developed.

Automated Invoice Run: Invoices are automatically sent to the predefined email addresses once a month. Depending on the country, either collective billing or individual invoices are generated.

Flexible Reporting: With just a few clicks, comprehensive reports can be generated quickly and easily.

Challenges and Solutions

The manufacturing solution was highly complex and came with several challenges. Extensive testing was required, especially in the area of custom adaptations. However, thanks to in-depth process knowledge, a highly robust solution was ultimately developed—without any gray areas. The new system introduced new structures and optimizations.
